Abstract
1537495 Erecting offshore towers J D DUGGAN 14 July 1976 [24 April 1975] 17137/75 Heading E1H A method of assembling an offshore tower comprises disposing a working platform 6 around a tower section 1, utilizing the platform in erecting another, or others, of the tower sections, and moving the platform to the level of the other(s) platform and repeating the operation. In the embodiment, initially, a base structure 2 is assembled with a tower section on it, Fig. 6 not shown, and the platform is assembled around the tower section from modules 7-11, which can house all the services required for the erected tower. The tower sections are lifted by cranes, and the platform is raised by jack-up devices in the vertical legs of the tower sections which gradually lowers the base to a sea-bed. If the sea-bed is uneven, the tower position can be adjusted by valves 27 which connect with cavities 26 in the base structure. The base can be fixed by piles 24 guided through inclined legs 25.
