Abstract
1537413 Centrifugal separators GOSUDARST PROEKT-KONSTRUKT I EXPERIMEN INST UGOLNOGO MASHINOSTROENIA "GIPROUGLEMASH" 4 March 1977 09298/77 Heading B2P A dust extractor comprises a housing 1 having therein a fan impeller 3 and a flow rectifier e.g. vanes 6, nozzles 8 for directing liquid into the air to be drawn into the housing 1 by the impeller 3, a chamber A, and a ring 7 secured to the housing 1 and spaced from the peripheral wall of the chamber A. In use, the rotating impeller 3 throws sludge and dust onto the wall of the chamber A. The film of sludge thus formed moves along the wall into a chamber B defined by the ring 7 and is removed from the chamber B through openings 17 in the lower part of the housing. The cleaned air stream is straightened by the vanes 6 and exhausted into the atmosphere. The impeller 3 may comprise front and rear discs 13 and 14 and a plurality of bent forward blades 15. It is driven by an electric motor 4 provided with grooves 18 for cooling water. The extractor may be used in association with mining machines and may be provided with a protective screen in front of the impeller 3.
