Abstract

1536097 Granular fibrous gypsum IDEMITSU KOSAN CO Ltd 14 June 1977 [29 Nov 1976] 24724/77 Heading C1A . Granular gypsum formed of fibrous α-type hemihydrate or anhydrite gypsum, having bulk density 0À01-0À8 g./cm.<SP>3</SP>, is obtained by subjecting #-type hemihydrate gypsum or dihydrate gypsum or a mixture thereof to hydrothermal reaction in acid medium to form a fibrous gypsum while agitating until the fibres intertwine to form granules. Drying at 50-80‹ C. for 1-3 hours gives α-hemihydrate product; calcining at 400-1000‹ C. for 0À5-3 hours gives anhydrite product.
