Abstract

Foams are prepared by reacting hydroxyl-containing organic compounds having a molecular weight of from 32 to 10 000 with an excess of polyisocyanates in the presence of isocyanate trimerisation catalysts, blowing agents and optionally further foam auxiliaries. The foams are obtained by adding 0.001 - 0.05 equivalent of an acid to the reaction mixture per equivalent of isocyanate. The foams obtained can be used as insulating materials in the construction industry or for the industrial sector or as construction materials and in the furniture industry.
