Abstract

Flat-bed printing plate carriers made of aluminium are produced by graining the aluminium surface in an agitated aqueous electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution contains at least one water-soluble aluminium salt in a concentration of from 200 g/l up to the saturation limit of the solution in terms of the salt. The solution has a pH of from 1 to 5. Only small amounts of the electrolytes used are consumed by the process. The aluminium which has been removed is produced as a precipitate and can easily be removed.
