1532030 Transporting bobbins TORAY INDUSTRIES INC 3 Dec 1976 50512/76 Heading D1F Packages 2 are transported between successive stages of yarn processing by placing a plurality of packages on each of a predetermined plurality of trays 1, placing the plurality of trays (together with their yarn packages) on a pallet 3 and transporting the pallet together with the trays and packages. Overall layout. (Fig. 1 not shown). Packages are doffed from machines D onto trays, placed by means C on a moving pallet carrier A and thence to a store (Z) where the pallet is unloaded and exchanged for an empty pallet. At the store (Z) the bobbins are inspected and classified. Alternatively, the carrier A may pass to a further yarn processing stage along passage (P8). Doffing. (Figs. 3-6). Empty bobbins on trays 1 are moved alongside the package forming machines and the empty bobbins are placed on stand-by pegs (5b). The full packages are then doffed from the machine onto the empty pegs on the trays, and the empty bobbins are then placed on the machine spindles. Placing trays on pallet. (Fig. 7). The trays ] carrying full packages are driven by a chain conveyor intermittently on to a lift 7. The lift raises each tray in turn up to the level of pallet 3. The tray is then displaced by an air cylinder on to the pallet 3 which is photoelectrically moved forward by the width of one tray as each tray is mounted in slides on the pallet, (Figs. 8-11 not shown). Trays holding empty bobbins are removed from warehouses (10b) and loaded onto the pallets. The full packages are removed from the warehouses (10a) as desired inspected and classified at station (10c) and then conveyed to a subsequent processing stage. Empty bobbins are supplied from station (10d). Donning. The pallets carrying empty bobbins to the spinning machines are conveyed on the pallets to a lift adjacent each machine, moved by the lift on to the chain conveyors running alongside each machine and then donned as described above.
