Abstract

1531873 Acid-treated rubber particles INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE 1 April 1976 [3 April 1975 28 Jan 1976] 13309/76 Headings C3C C3E and C3L [Also in Division C1] Natural and synthetic rubber particles are treated with an acid to increase their ability to adsorb oils or hydrocarbons from water. In Examples 4, 7, 9 and 10 natural rubber powder is treated with hydrochloric, acetic, nitric and formic acids. In Examples 12 and 18 waste tyre rubber powder is treated with sulphuric and formic acids. In Examples 13, 16 and 17 vulcanized natural rubber powder is treated with formic, acetic and oleic acids. In Example 19 vulcanized cellular natural rubber particles are treated with a mixture of C 1-12 aliphatic carboxylic acids.
