Abstract

1468087 Rotary positive-displacement fluid machines ROLLS-ROYCE MOTORS Ltd 22 May 1975 [4 June 1974] 24634/74 Heading F1F In a compression-ignition Wankel-type I.C. engine having a volume compression-ratio less than 15:1 starting and light-load running are improved by a heater 5 in the air-inlet duct. A turbo-charger 9 may be incorporated and an auxiliary combustion chamber (13), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be provided to supplement the flow of gases to the turbine section 10, the flow of fuel to the chamber (13) being cut-off when the engine is operating normally. The turbo-charger may be arranged to drive auxiliary equipment independently of the remainder of the engine.
