Abstract

1531235 Stackable cartons DRG (UK) Ltd 26 Nov 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 52301/74 Heading B8P A container formed of a body and a lid has part of the walls extending above the lid to facilitate stacking. This feature is ensured by the angled cuts 18 in the case of the front and rear walls. The walls also slope outwardly to enable a superposed container to be stacked on a lower container. The container may be folded from a blank of board material or may be moulded from a plastic. The container may be folded from the blank shown in Fig. 1 which, when erected, provides double thickness end walls 28, 30 enclosing gusset folds 36 and a double thickness front wall 12, 14. The lid 22 has front and side flaps 40, 38 which support the lid from the base 10, notches 42, 44 engaging each other. When stacked as shown in Fig. 3, a cup 50 is located in apertures 46 and in a portion 52 of an insert 48 for the container formed of thin thermoplastic film and having partitions therein. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the cups may be inverted on the tray thereby preventing contamination. If the container is moulded from thermoplastic film its base can be directly shaped to locate the contents. The lid may be separate from the body.
