Abstract

1531188 Modified polymers; and polymer blends IDEMITSU KOSAN CO Ltd 22 Feb 1977 [4 March 1976 14 Sept 1976 30 Oct 1976] 07351/77 Headings C3M and C3P A modified polymer is obtained by reaction of polypropylene with liquid rubber and maleic anhydride in a solvent in the presence of a radical generator. In examples, the polypropylene is a propylene homopolymer, a copolymer of propylene with a small amount of ethylene, or a mixture of polypropylene with polyethylene, and the liquid rubber is a hydroxy-terminated 1,2- or 1,4-polybutadiene or a carboxyl-terminated 1,2-polybutadiene. The above modified polymer may be blended with polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS resin or nylon.
