Abstract

1529683 Hooks J A HIND 13 Nov 1975 [9 Oct 1974] 43813/74 Heading E2A A hook 10 has a body having a lifting eye 11 and has arms 14, 14 pivotally mounted on the body by a bush 13 and a spindle 12. Each arm has a straight portion 15 which, when the hook is closed, forms with the other arm an obtuse angle, and each arm is provided with an extension 16 and with a notch 19. The arms are retained in the closed-hook position by a ring 17 which engages the notches 19 and are moved to the open-hook position when the ring 17 is urged into engagement with the extensions 16 via lifting eyes 18 formed on the ring 17.
