Abstract

1528401 Door latches PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 Jan 1976 03746/76 Heading E2A A door latch comprises a movable member 4 having a finger grip 7 and a nose or bolt 8 attached. This member 4 is attached to a base plate 1 by means of resilient arms 5 fastened to spring-supporting pegs 3. Support for the member 4 is provided by clips 11 on the base plate which provide a slideway for it, with movement limited by the engagement of clips 11 with stops 13 on the movable member. Cut outs 12 give resilience to the movable member at the points of engagement with clips 11. Fastening is provided by the engagement of nose or bolt 8 in a recess 24 in keeper 14 which penetrates hole 9 in the movable member. The keeper 14 may be attached to a door-post or a wall by screws passing through holes 16 or, in the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 8, by means of resilient legs 21 which can pass through a hole in a wall etc. and spring open to hold the keeper 14 in position. For ease of latching nose 8 is bevelled. The whole movable member 4 and spring 5 are preferably integrally, moulded from plastic.
