Abstract

1528120 Non drip flow valve in sprinkler systems A F THOROGOOD 21 Oct 1975 [21 Oct 1974 5 March 1975] 46005/74 and 9213/75 Heading AID [Also in Division F2] A non-drip pressure responsive valve for horticultural sprinklers 21 has a valve member 7 with a rounded seat-contacting portion of elastomeric material urged into seating contact by an adjustable spring 9 to be opened against the spring by fluid pressure on the rounded portion. The seat contacting portion may be part spherical, or ball, or mushroom shaped and make circular contact with, for example a conical seating. The spring may encircle a projection 6, be retained between the valve member and a body part 3 and have an end coil accommodated in a neck portion 12 of the valve member. Adjustment of the spring load is effected by a screw connection between body parts 2, 3 as set by the selected thickness of a washer 14 and may be locked by a screw 15. A flow volume adjuster 17 may function by screw adjustment in bore 16.
