Abstract

1527881 Detergent compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE Ltd 13 Feb 1976 [14 Feb 1975 16 June 1975] 6358/75 and 25645/75 Heading C5D Alkaline solid detergent compositions comprise (A) (i) from 1 to 30% by weight of a silicate SiO 2 :M 2 O, where M is Na or K, and the ratio of SiO 2 :M 2 O is 1À6:1 to 4:1; (ii) from 0 to 60% by weight of an alkali metal orthophosphate or pyrophosphate or a mixture thereof; (iii) from 0 to 80% by weight of diluent, and (iv) from 1% to 50% by weight of a non-cationic detergent; and (B) from 0 to 60% by weight of alkaline Na or K ortho- or pyrophosphate or a mixture thereof such that the composition contains from 5 to 60% by weight of orthophosphate or a mixture of ortho- and pyrophosphate wherein the rates of pyroto orthophosphate is 1À5:1 to 1:4 and (C) 0 to 80% by weight of diluent; the total amount of alkali metal tripolyphosphate is less than 20% by weight of the ortho- and pyrophosphate and wherein the silicate (A) (i) is such that when 1À2 g. of the composition is added to 1 litre of water at 25‹ C., agitated for one minute to avoid lumping and filtered through a 142 mm. diameter 5 micron pore filter under N 2 at 6À8 atmospheres, the molar ratio of filtrate SiO 2 to total SiO 2 is no more than 3À3:4. The compositions may be produced by drying a slurry of the components, possibly adding the phosphates after drying. The composition may contain sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate, fatty acid sodium sulphate and coconut triethoxy alcohol. The composition may also contain ion-exchange alumino-silicates.
