1527234 Harvesting tea R W COLLINGTON 4 Aug 1976 [2 Aug 1975] 32397/75 Heading A1F Immature shoots YS are deflected downwardly out of the path of a toothed cutting mechanism by air blown forwardly and downwardly therefrom. A reciprocating cutting blade 3 overlies a selecting member 2 which comprises an upper cover plate 6 and a lower sole plate 7 separated by spaces 8 to form air flow channels therebetween from a manifold 11 to the cutting gaps 4 between the teeth 5. The temperature and humidity of the blown air may be controlled and suction means may be provided for collecting the cut mature shoots S. The mechanism may be operated manually or mounted on a tractor.
