Abstract

1526867 Clothes hangers P BEMGSCH 2 July 1976 [4 July 1975 1 Oct 1975] 27679/76 Heading A4U In a folding clothes hanger the arms 1,2 are releasably retained in extended position by a lug 24 engaging in aligned recesses 13 in the arms, the lug 24 being disengaged from the recesses by outward movement of a rod 9 carrying the lug and moveable against the bias of resilient arms 25, 26 engaging stops 14 on the arms 1, 2. The arms have circular portions 3, 4 coaxial with their common pivot axis and enclosed by plates 7, 8 having projections 16 extending through apertures in the circular portions 3, 4 and held together by rings 27, 28. In a second embodiment, Figs. 6 to 9 (not shown), the resilient arms 25, 26 are replaced by arcuate resilient parts 35, 36 engaging studs 43, 50 on the circular portions of the arms, the plates 7, 8 being dispensed with and the circular portions 3, 4 being inter-connected by stud and socket resilient snap interengagement. In a third embodiment, Figs. 10 to 16 (not shown) similar to the second embodiment, the rod (60) has two projections 61, 62 engaging over the outside of the circular portions of the arms when these are extended, to increase the stability of the hanger. The arms may be of steel wire, Fig. 17 (not shown).
