1525099 Electromagnetic relays MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC WORKS Ltd and H SAUER 23 July 1975 [24 Feb 1975] 03902/78 Divided out of 1516541 Heading H1N An electromagnetic relay comprises a bobbin structure 1 on which is wound a coil 43, there being a hollow tubular space 2 extending right through the bobbin structure in which is an elongate armature 70, 68<SP>1</SP>, 68<SP>11</SP>, having a free end 9 carrying or forming movable contacts for co-operation with fixed contacts 18, 19, formed by parts of polepieces 6, 7, embedded in the bobbin structure, the relay having an outer protective easing formed of two easing members 75, 75<SP>1</SP> sealed together and sealing the ends of the hollow space 2 by systems of grooves and flanges 78, 78<SP>1</SP> to separate the hollow space 2 from the coil 43. The armature may comprise a copper coated leaf-spring 70 to which elongate ferromagnetic plates 68<SP>1</SP>, 68<SP>11</SP> are welded, or may be a simple ferromagnetic armature, Fig. 8, not shown, coated at its free end with layers of contact material. The polepieces are also coated with contact material over their surfaces acting as fixed contacts. A parallelepiped permanent magnet 13 co-operates with the polepieces 6, 7, and closes one end of the hollow space 2. The casing members 75, 75<SP>1</SP>, are sealed together by welding or ultrasonic energy, and the relay is hermetically sealed. Both monostable and bistable forms of the relay are described, and the relay may have a dual-in-line structure.
