Abstract
1522797 Solar heaters BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 10 Oct 1975 [23 Oct 1974] 45835/74 Heading F4U A solar heater panel comprises a container 1 filled with radiation absorbent particles or fibres having a specific gravity not greater than 1À1 and provided with an inlet 5 and an outlet 6 for heat transfer liquid. The upper wall 2 of the container is transparent and the lower wall 3 has a reflective coating 9. The container is mounted in an enclosure having a transparent upper wall 10 and containing thermal insulation material 13. The panel may be constructed to interlock with similar panels. Preferably, the container is filled with carbon black filled polyethylene pellets. The container may be made from glass, polymethyl methacrylate, cellulose acetate, high density polyethylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, clear PVC or mica. The heat transfer liquid may be water, alcohol or oil.
