Abstract

1521963 Tractor for shunting vehicles E C HALLAM and H HALLAM [trading as E C HALLAM & CO] 22 Aug 1975 [27 Aug 1974] 37362/74 Heading B7H A vehicle for shunting a trailer comprises a tractor, a shunting frame secured to the tractor and a compressor associated pneumatic circuit for supplying air for a three-line air braking system for braking the trailer. The compressor is mounted on the front of the tractor and" is driven by an extension of the tractor engine crankshaft. The shunting frame comprises two spaced, longitudinally extending beams 6 connected by transverse members, the beams 6 supporting a pusher plate 34 at their front ends. Each beam has a lower portion 26 attached to the underside of the rear axle 16, an upwardly directed portion 42, and a forwardly extending portion passing above the front axle 12. A counterweight 32 and towing coupling 36 are provided at the rear of the frame. The pusher plate 34 is also provided with a towing attachment. The three-line air braking system for connection to the trailer is controlled by the tractor foot brake pedals and hand brake.
