Abstract
152,121. Moran, H. M., and Kernan, J. July 8, 1919. Table knives; table forks. - A combined knife and fork for use together in one hand comprises a knife B and fork A held side by side with the flat sliding shanks towards each other and the operative parts of the knife and fork directed downwards, the shanks being provided on their outer faces with grips B<1>, A<1> for the fingers and thumb. The grip A<1> has an enlargement A<2> adapted to lie in the palm of the hand, a shoulder A<3> for engagement by the first finger to apply downward and backward thrust to the fork and a strap A' to receive the thumb to apply forward thrust. The grip B<1> has lateral finger-recesses B<2>, B<4> for applying backward and forward thrust to the knife. and a plate B<6> providing a pocket for the second finger for applying downward thrust. The grips are preferably detachable so that they may be applied to either side of the knife and fork and so adapted for use by a right or left hand, and the ports A<2>, A<4>, B<6> are detachable so that they can be reversed on the grips. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 7131/15 and 109,739.
