Abstract

1514503 Modification of Al KAWECKI BERYLCO INDUSTRIES Inc 11 July 1975 [15 July 1974 27 Aug 1974] 29180/75 Heading C7A A master alloy containing Sr 3-17 Si 4-28 Ca 0-1 Al bal and impurities i.e. Fe, Ba, Mn and Zr, made by stirring a Si-Sr or Si-Ca-Sr alloy into Al at 1450-1800‹F, is used to modify the Al-Si eutectic in eutectic and hypo-eutectic Al-Si coating alloys. The final amount of Sr in the modified alloy, 0À01%, is sufficient to retain the modification even after multiple remelts.
