Abstract

1512695 Rubber compositions containing adhesion promoters YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO Ltd 20 June 1975 [21 June 1974] 26313/75 Heading C3K and C3Q Compositions comprise a polyisoprene, polybutadiene, butadiene/styrene, butadiene/ acrylonitrile or polychloroprene rubber and benzoic acid or a monohydroxy benzoic acid in an amount sufficient to improve the adhesion of the rubber to metals and fibrous materials on vulcanization but in an amount less than that which will cause undesirable deterioration in the properties of the rubber. The acid may also improve the cutting and chipping resistance of the rubber. The composition may be used in the manufacture of tyres containing metal or synthetic fibre reinforcing cords.
