1511799 Dishwashing machines BOSCHSIEMENS HAUSGER TE GmbH 16 Dec 1976 [21 Jan 1976] 52502/76 Heading A4F In a dishwashing machine having a sump 13 at the bottom of the washing chamber 10, and a water softening device 18 mounted on the sump below the washing chamber, the water softening device comprising a salt container 19 and an ion exchange container 20, the filling spout 21 of the salt container and the outlet pipe 22 of the ion exchange container both extend through the sump. The containers 19, 20 are preferably formed of a weldable synthetic material whose upper portions are integral with the sump 13 and whose lower portions are welded thereto. The sump is covered by a sieve 33 and a cover-plate 36 through which the filling spout 21 and the outlet pipe 22 may project. As shown a raised section 39 of the coverplate 36 covers the outlet pipe 22. The filling spout 21 is normally closed by a screw cap 23. The machine also includes a spray arm 38, and circulating and drain pumps 15, 16 and a motor 17 therefor mounted on the sump 13. The sump also includes an integral drain pump outlet 30, 31 with a non- return valve (not shown), and a depression connected by passages 26 to air chambers 27 to which water level switches can be connected.
