Abstract

1511150 Glass microspheres MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 26 Nov 1975 48631/75 Heading C1M Colorless transparent glass microspheres, of diameter less than 2 mm. and refractive index 1À85-2À0, consist of, in percent by weight:- where the substituent oxide is one or more of the oxides listed in Figure 2 (and in the amounts listed in Fig. 2), and where the glass composition lies within area ABCDEF of Figure 1. The microspheres may be formed by passing a stream of the molten glass into a flame at 1100-1450‹C or into a high velocity air jet. The microspheres may be carried on a support sheet to form retroreflective sheeting.
