Abstract

1509861 Spot-type disc brakes DAIMLERBENZ AG 10 Feb 1976 [14 Feb 1975] 05126/76 Heading F2E A spot-type disc brake, Figs. 1 to 3, for vehicles, includes a brake carrier 10 and a floating saddle 13 both constructed as substantially flat frames having longitudinal webs chordal to the brake disc 11, wherein the floating saddle 13 has on one longitudinal web at least one brake cylinder 14 and on the opposite longitudinal web at least one thrust bearing 22, and wherein the floating saddle 13 and brake elements (20, 21, in each case) are supported on guide strips 15, 15a, on the brake carrier 10, the guide strips being disposed on the saddle side of the carrier, being spaced laterally from each other by a distance, e.g. sufficient to accommodate between them the cylinder 14, and extending transversely to the plane of the disc 11; each guide strip has either at least two guiding surfaces, e.g. 17, 18, Fig. 1, or a compound guiding surface, e.g. of arcuate form; each brake element surrounds the guide strips with guiding members, e.g. 23, Fig. 3, from outside in such away that the guiding surfaces support the element both circumferentially and radially. As shown in Fig. 1, the floating saddle 13 surrounds the same guide strips 15, e.g. with guiding members 16, Fig. 1, in the same manner as the brake elements but at the cylinder end only; at the opposite end the saddle 13 is supported on guide strips 15 only indirectly through the brake element there, Fig. 2. In Fig. 5 (not shown), outwardly-directed additional guiding members on the saddle engage additional guiding grooves in the brake carrier.
