Abstract

1509703 Electric couplings BRECKNELL WILLIS & CO Ltd 4 April 1975 [5 Feb 1974] 05361/74 Heading H2E A metal current supply rail is channel-shaped with re-entrant lips and is supported by a plurality of insulated mounts 6. Wings 26 of a plate 25 are forced into engagement beneath the lips by leaf spring 28, both attached to metal blank 17 which is encased in a nylon threaded jacket 20. In operation the rail is covered by an insulating cover and current collected via a shoe operating in a groove in its base. Units to lock lengths of rail together are described (Figs. 5- 11, not shown) as is the use of heating wire to prevent icing and the use of supplementary current carrying wires.
