Abstract

1509673 Electromagnets CENTRUM BADAWCZO - KONSTRUKCYJNE OBRABIAREK 12 May 1976 [15 May 1975] 19462/76 Heading H1P An electromagnet comprises a ferromagnetic housing 1 containing ferromagnetic end members 2, 3 having conical surfaces 4<1> and 5<1> which coaxially enclose a coil 6. An armature 7 of ferromagnetic material is slidable in aperture 8 of a cylindrical extension of member 2 and has conical surface 4, 5, formed thereon, with a coaxial projecting pin 9 carried by the armature and surrounded by a spacer washer 10. The housing is closed by element 11 supporting a resilient buffer 12 and abutting member 2. On energization the flux # of the coil attracts the armature 7 into a position at which conical surfaces 4, 5 are proximate to corresponding surfaces 4<1>, 5<1> and the spacer washer 10 determines a minimum airgap therebetween. On de-energization the armature is returned to a position of rest on buffer 12 by gravity or pressure on pin 9. The conical angles may determine the force/ excitation characteristics.
