Abstract

1509433 Rail vehicle bogies H N K PATON and J B SKILLING 18 March 1975 [3 April 1974 (2)] 50941/77 Divided out of 1509431 Heading B7L Single axle bogies 20, 120 supporting adjacent ends 10, 110 of rail car bodies are interconnected by tubes 114, 115 which allow relative longitudinal movement and rotation about the longitudinal axis of the tubes, but prevent relative rotation of the bogies about a vertical axis, e.g. when the train enters a curved track section. The telescopic tubes 114, 115 are welded, or connected by a horizontal pivot (Fig. 18A, not shown) to each bogie, the pivot allowing for track irregularity. The car bodies 10, 110 are pivotally connected by a rigid draw bar 112. The bogie may be fitted with the suspension system and constant contact side bearings 53 for the body set out in parent Specification 1,509,431. The subject-matter of Specification 1,509,432 is also referred to.
