Abstract
1508362 Mechanically-operated disc brakes SOC ANON FRANCAISE DU FERODO 11 June 1975 [18 June 1974] 25079/75 Heading F2E The operating lever 36, Fig. 1 of a spot-type disc brake has two opposite webs 37, 38, Fig. 2, connected at at least one of their ends by a portion 39; the lever is articulated to a transfer member 19 (which is movable for transmitting braking action to the second brake pad), by one of its webs 37, and resilient means for returning the lever to a rest position comprises a compression spring 50 interposed between the transfer member 19 and the inside face of the other web 38 of the lever, the spring axis being spaced from, and extending perpendicularly to, the articulation axis, in the rest position of the lever. As shown, web 37 has a notch 40 forming a pivoting throat which co-operates with a pivoting-edge 41 formed by a pin 42 forcefitted in the transfer member 19; spring 50 serves also to maintain these parts in contact. The transfer member 19 is urged downwards and leftwards, Fig. 3, by a spring 28 having two upper blades 30A, 30B, Fig. 2, and two lower blades 33A, 33B, each latter engaging one part 12A or 12B of the fixed support 11. In Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown) the other ends of webs 37, 38, are also connected so that the lever forms a closed loop, and a protective cover (68) in the form of a cup is secured to the lower face of the operating lever, enclosing the end of arm 22A of the transfer member 19; an upper cover (69) in the form of an annular resilient membrane surrounds arm 22A and has its outer periphery located by a channel-section ring (70) on the operating lever.
