Abstract

1506659 Measuring in three co-ordinates C STIEFELMAYER K G 26 Feb 1976 [7 March 1975] 07603/76 Heading G1M A tracer head has an elongate tracer member 20 with, at its free end, a tracer element 22 for sensing movement in X, Y and Z directions. The member 20 is supported by a flexible annular disc 25 which allows axial and pivotal movement of the member 20, any such movement being detected by depression of a spring-loaded pin 23 in a microswitch 24. The stiffness of this spring is less than that of the disc 25, which has a stiffness less than that of a return spring 48. Protection against damage by excessive movement is provided by springs 61 which allow housing 13 to move as shown in Fig. 1.
