Abstract

1506190 Railway undercarriages GLOUCESTER RAILWAY CARRIAGE & WAGON CO Ltd 11 Feb 1976 [7 July 1975] 28480/75 Heading B7L A railway vehicle has wheel and axle sets mounted for movement in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle relative to saddle structure 10 by means of adaptors 12 mounted on the ends of the axle bearings 11, wherein each adaptor 12 has a pair of transverse ribs 14 on its upper surface pivotally engageable in correspondingly shaped recesses in the undersurface 19 of the top of the associated structure 10, the axes of the ribs 14, transversely of the vehicle, being equally spaced fore and aft of the rotational axis of the axle bearing 11. Between the opposite vertical faces 16 of the adaptor and the vertical walls 17 of the structure 10 are mounted resilient means 13 in the form of pads of rubber bonded between steel plates. Alternatively the resilient means 13 may be mounted between the upper surface 18 of the adaptor 12 and the undersurface 19 of the top of the structure 10 and equally spaced fore and aft of the rotational axis of the axle bearing 11. In another embodiment the means 13 are omitted and fore and aft arm surfaces (25) are provided on the top of adaptor (22) outwardly of the ribs (23) to provide progressive displacement of the pivotal axes of the adaptor (22) relative to the saddle structure (20) as described with reference to Fig. 4 (not shown).
