Abstract

Radioiodine-labelled ortho-iodohippuric acid or its alkali metal salt is prepared from inactive ortho-iodohippuric acid by iodine exchange. In this preparation process, the ortho-iodohippuric acid which is to be labelled is heated in the presence of an acid with an alkali metal 123-, 131- or 132-iodide. The resulting radioiodine-labelled ortho-iodohippuric acid or its alkali metal salt from inactive ortho-iodohippuric acid can be used for diagnostic purposes.
