Abstract

1505638 Brake boosters GIRLING Ltd 23 May 1975 [8 June 1974] 25519/74 Heading F2F A polygonal fulcrum plate 90 is coaxially mounted on an output member of a differential fluid pressure booster, each pivot edge 88 of the plate 90 being associated with a radially extending individual finger 51 which fingers together comprise a radially slotted conically distortable deflecting plate which supports an elastic diaphragm 24 separating two chambers 26, 28 of the booster. In the suspended vacuum booster shown the fingers are supported at their outer ends by a flanged ring 54, have respective intermediate lugs 120 for holding them against the plate 90, pass through apertures 101 in a cup-member 102/108 and abut at their inner ends a thrust member 46. The cup-member 102/108 is secured to the inner periphery of the diaphragm and to a cylindrical valve body 32 enclosing a resilient poppet valve member 60 with a surface 70 selectively engageable with annular surfaces 72 and/or 74 to control operation of the booster.
