Abstract

1504914 Pipe joints; covers for pipes SANDVIK AB 13 May 1975 20203/75 Headings F2G and F2P In a joint between pipes 10, 13 having opposed, outwardly-extending flanges with mating surfaces defining therebetween an annular channel for a sealing ring 14, or a plain disc and a flanged pipe the flanges are clamped together by holding means extending substantially radially inwardly towards the longitudinal axis of the pipes. The holding means may comprise a series of clamps 18 spaced circumferentially about the flanges and secured as by bolts 19, co-operating tapered surfaces such as 20, 21 being provided on the flanges and the clamps to urge the former together. The pipe 13 with its flange 12 may be replaced by a cover secured in like manner. A series of joints as above may be arranged in a regular array to form a closed-packed assembly, see Fig. 3 (not shown).
