Abstract

1504652 Tool changers OFFICINE MECCANICHE RINO BERADI SpA and A BUFFOLI 12 April 1976 [10 April 1974] 14837/76 Heading B3B A shaft assembly, e.g. for a tool changing arrangement 22 comprises two coaxial shafts 32, 34 arranged to be driven by a single prime mover, e.g. a motor 36, for controlled rotation through predetermined angles either together in the same direction or in opposite directions, wherein each shaft has a driving pin 114, 116 parallel and eccentric to the common axis X-X and slidingly engaged in a groove of a control plate 104, the groove extending perpendicular to the axis X-X and the control plate lying in a plane perpendicular to said axis, the control plate 104 being shiftable rectilinearly in said plane in a direction transverse to said groove to cause the shafts to rotate in opposite directions, and the control plate 104 being rotatable about said axis to cause the shafts to rotate together in the same direction. A second control plate may be provided with a respective groove in each control plate. As the tool changing arrangement 22 is moved relative to fixed cams 152, 154 either a shaft 80 is moved axially to engage dogs 98 with slots 100 so that the shaft 80 causes the control plate to rotate, or a plunger 144 engages a slot 100 to prevent the control plate being rotated and hence a pin 86 and groove 92 ensure rectilinear movement thereof. The shaft 80 is driven by the motor 36 via a rack and pinion 72, 74 and a pin and slot drive 50 which causes a member 62 to move linearly. The motor 36 only drives through 180 degrees and a sector shaped projection 56 and shapes (68), (70) (Fig. 4, not shown) ensure that the member is held at the end of a drive stroke, when the pin 50 can disengage from its slot (60).
