Abstract

1501664 Centrifugal pumps ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 8 April 1975 [16 April 1974] 14321/75 Heading F1C [Also in Division B2] A pump for fluids and semi-fluids which may contain fibres comprises an impeller having at least one vane 2 having a portion 3 extending through the inlet 5. The inlet 5 has three projections 10 (or recesses 11), Fig. 4, (not shown) providing cutting edges co-operating with the vane 2 which is S-shaped as shown. Scrapers 8, which may be radial or, as shown, swept backwards, prevent fibres from getting wound around the pump shaft 1. The impeller may be provided with a detachable cutting edge (13), Fig. 6 (not shown).
