Abstract

1501609 Heat exchange apparatus for chemical reaction VOLGOGRAD POLITEKHNICH INST 18 Jan 1975 2265/75 Heading B1X [Also in Divisions B3 and F4] The invention relates to tube apparatus in which discharge of particles, e.g. porcelain balls, from heat exchange tubes 65 in which the particles are fluidised by upward flow of liquid is prevented by widened portions at the top of the tubes which slow down the upward flowrate of liquid therein, the apparatus being such that discharge of the balls through the lower ends of tubes 65 is prevented. The fluidised particles prevent the build up of deposits on the tube surfaces and destroy laminar boundary layers. The angle of core 76 may be somewhat less than the angle of rest of the particles. The apparatus may be used for exo- or endothermic reactions, for heating or cooling liquids, evaporation, condensation or as a still.
