Abstract
1500848 Temperature control SAUNIER DUVAL 8 March 1976 [18 March 1975] 9226/76 Heading G3R A forced-draught gas-fuelled heater is controlled so as to maintain a required heat output by circuitry 9 which adjusts the voltage fed to one of two coils of a motor 15 driving the forced-draught fan 5. As shown, the fan is an extractor fan and the two coils of the motor comprise a main coil fed with variable low-voltage via lines 18, 18' plus a phase delay coil fed with mains voltage via lines 16, 16'. The supply via lines 18, 18' is varied in response to the water temperature sensed at 14 in a pipeline 11. The control circuitry 9 may operate either in analogue or in "digital" fashion to provide, in the former case, a control signal whose magnitude is proportional to the temperature error and in the latter case a pulse train whose mark-to-space ratio is proportional to the temperature error. The gas supply to the burner, via a valve 8, may be varied to correspond with the fan speed. Specification 1481589 (see Division F4) is referred to.
