Abstract

1,088,461. Controlling gas burners. SPERRYN & CO. Ltd. April 13, 1964 [Jan. 11, 1963], No. 46218/62. Heading F4T. A man gas burner 34 is controlled by a thermocouple 37 heated by a pilot burner 29 the output of the thermocouple being amplified by a magnetic amplifier 24. The main burner 34 is supplied by a diaphragm valve having a bleed line controlled by two solenoid valves 32, 33 arranged in series. The first solenoid valve 32 is opened by a winding 35 when the magnetic amplifier 24 is energized by a secondary winding 23 of a mains transformer and the second solenoid valve 33 is opened by a winding 38 which is energized by the magnetic amplifier 24 when the thermocouple is energized. The circuit includes a timing circuit 20 and two thermally responsive switches 17, 18.
