Abstract

1500384 Transferring liquid cargoes A H R SIMPSON 23 July 1976 [28 April 1975] 17587/75 Heading B8E [Also in Division B7] A terminal for tankers comprises a ground base 9, a submerged buoyant platform 13 and a plurality of anchor legs connecting the platform 13 and base 9, each leg having a pivot joint at either end and a fluid conducting pipe extending therealong. As described, the terminal has three anchor legs 1, 2, 3 with pipes 6, 7 and 8 which lead to two pipes 24, 25 on a mooring arm 18 which extends between the submerged platform 13 and a surface buoy (19) to which a tanker is moored. The arm 18 is pivotable about a horizontal and a vertical axis and the anchor legs at each end are pivotable about two mutually perpendicular axes. At their upper ends the pipes 6, 7 and 8 are connected by three radially extending pipes (21), (22), (23) which converge into a hub housing 17. The housing 17 contains two concentric vertical ducts to the inner one of which pipe (22) and (25) is connected to conduct ballast and to the outer annular passage between the two ducts the pipes (21), (23) and (24) are connected to conduct oil. The pipes (24), (25) in the mooring arm 18 are interconnected by a valve controlled cross over line.
