Abstract

1499953 Transfer printing STORK BRABANT BV 30 April 1976 [12 Aug 1975] 17825/76 Heading D1B The invention comprises a transfer printing process in which a pattern support carrying a pattern to be transferred is held in contact with a material to be printed and is heated to cause the pattern to be transferred by sublimation of the dyestuffs in the pattern, at least one of the pattern areas being of a dyestuff which has a vapour pressure at 210‹C of more than 50 microbars and being surrounded by a line of a dyestuff which has a vapour pressure at 210‹C of less than 50 microbars which line contains a greater quantity of dyestuff than does an equal area of the pattern area. The transfer process may be effected under sub-atmospheric pressure using disperse dyes. The line of dyestuff may be the same colour or a darker colour. Prints of sharper outline are obtained.
