Abstract

1496484 Lubricating TURNER MFG CO Ltd 31 Oct 1974 [7 Dec 1973] 56953/73 Heading F2A A bearing assembly comprises a shaft 13 rotatably mounted with respect to a member 11 by means of a tapered roller bearing 19, there being a screw-type lubricant feed means 36 on the shaft 13 occupying a bore 35 in the member 11 and arranged to deliver lubricant to the radially innermost ends of the bearing rollers. The assembly may be part of a gear-box. The member 11 is itself rotatably supported with respect to the gear-box casing 10 by means of a bearing 16-18. Lubricant is gravity fed to the feed means from a reservoir 27 attached to the casing, by way of radial bores 34 in the member 11. Some of the lubricant finds its way through the bearing 16-18, but the flow therethrough may be restricted by suitable means.
