Abstract

1495684 Microtome AMERICAN OPTICAL CORP 29 Aug 1975 [2 Dec 1974] 35751/75 Heading G2J A microtome via which the specimen in holder 7 is reciprocated passed a stationary knife has a carriage 13 manually reciprocated by handle 10 and a pin and slot mechanism and the feed for the specimen is provided by screw 26 moving the specimen arm 15 towards the knife (downwards as shown). The feed screw is driven via a one-way clutch 24 by arm 23 that abuts a cam 19 at the end of each stroke. The cam 19 is rotatable to vary the setting of the cam surface 20 and thus the feed distance. Manual feed is via handle 29 that can be used to over-ride the clutch.
