Abstract

1494907 Air screens for surgical operating tables Z DUVLIS 3 Dec 1974 [4 Dec 1973] 52299/74 Heading F4V A surgical operating table 2 is combined with a germ-free air screen generator comprising an air supply blower 4 having an outlet 10 at one end of the table and an air extraction blower 5 having an inlet at the other end of the table to produce a screen 6 of germ-free air directed over but spaced above the table so that, in use, the screen extends over an operating area on a patient on the table. The outlet 10 of blower 4 and the inlet of blower 5 are slots, which include components 11 to form two air streams 7 and 8 which define the screen 6, and which slots are adjustable in attitude and shape. The blowers 4, 5 are adjustable in position and orientation at their respective ends of the table. The air screen generatorincludes filters for making theairgermfree, the filters being located upstream of the outlet 10. The filters also make the air dust-free.
