Abstract

1494446 Dyeing cellulose materials with reactive dyes HOECHST AG 10 Feb 1975 [9 Feb 1974] 5630/75 Heading D1B Textiles containing or consisting of cellulose fibres are continuously dyed by applying to the textile an aqueous liquor containing a reactive dyestuff, a liquid alkali metal silicate, and an aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution, the alkali metal silicate and alkali metal hydroxide being present in liquor quantities relative to one another equivalent to liquid alkali metal silicate of 37‹ to 60‹ Be' and aqueous alkali' metal hydroxide solution of 30‹ to 45‹ Be' in a ratio of 1:1 to 1:0.5 by volume, the material then being placed in a dwelling chamber in a cuttled-up of opened out condition and exposing the material to a moist atmosphere at 20‹ to 80‹C for 5 to 30 mins. The cellulose may be blended with polyester fibres which may be previously dyed with disperse dyes by the thermosol process. The reactive dye liquor may also contain soda, and the material may be steamed or treated with hot alkali metal silicate after the dwelling process.
