1492029 Benzo-naphthyridines LABORATOIRE ROGER BELLON 29 Jan 1975 [30 Jan 1974] 04339/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) (including acid addition alkali metal and amine salts thereof) in which R is C 1-5 alkyl, and each of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 , which can be the same or different, is hydrogen, C 1-5 alkyl, polyhalo (C 1-5 alkyl), halogen, C 1-5 alkoxy, nitro, (straight or branched C 1-12 alkyl) sulphonyl or -SO 2 NR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>11</SP> (wherein each of R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP>, which may be the same or different, is hydrogen, C 1-10 alkyl or an aromatic radical, or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP>, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a heterocyclic structure, optionally containing a second hetero-atom), or R 1 and R 2 or R 2 and R 3 form, together with carbon atoms of ring A, a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbyl ring of 5 or 6 carbon atoms, the hydrocarbyl ring optionally containing at least one oxygen atom, are made utilizing the compounds shown in the following reaction scheme: Pharmaceutical preparations active against gram negative and positive micro-organisms contain (I) as active ingredient; administration is orally or parenterally. Compounds (I) can also be used as growth promoting agents.
