Abstract

1490865 Racks COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 2 Sept 1975 [4 Oct 1974 19 Feb 1975] 36691/75 and 6972/75 Divided out of 1490864 Heading F2Q [Also in Divisions E1-E2] A track component 103 adapted to form part of an elongated track assembly 102 constituted by a series of such components arranged end to end, comprises a rigid assembly providing a succession of fixed abutments formed by parallel rods or pins 132 for sequential drivable engagement by a driven member such as a pinion 130 of a mining machine, and connector means 160 and 162 adjacent to the ends of the succession of abutments 132 for securing the component 103 to adjacent such components, which means in use permit limited articulation of the connected components 103. The articulation occurs in part by rotation about bolts 162 which secure a spring steel link plate 160 to a pair of adjacent components 103, which are thus restrained against longitudinal separation in the region of the plate 160. The rods 132 are accommodated between plates 126 and 155, the latter of which is secured to an upright plate 150 by bolts 153, and each plate 150 is affixed at its base by bolts 104 to a respective rigid pan of a conveyer on which the mining machine is supported. The conveyer pans are slightly spaced and connected by loosely fitted nuts and botls 180 to accommodate a preselected maximum amount of articulation of the adjacent track components 103. The two ends of each upper plate 126 of each component 103 are respectively convex and concave, thus interlocking to preserve alignment and permit limited articulation about a generally vertical axis.
