Abstract

1490732 Printing plates VICKERS Ltd 27 March 1975 [5 April 1974] 15307/74 Heading B6C An electro-responsive printing blank comprises an ink-receptive electrically conductive under-layer directly coated with an ink-repellant silicone rubber film having an exposed outer surface which is removable by passage of a current between a stylus and the blank. The under-layer may be of metal or of metal supported by a backing sheet of paper or plastics, e.g. polyester. The metal may be aluminium. The silicone rubber may be polydimethyl siloxane, polydiphenyl siloxane, polymethyl hydrogen siloxane or polymethyl phenyl siloxane, and may contain pigments, e.g. carbon black, zinc oxide, zinc sulphide, titanium dioxide, antimony oxide, barium sulphate, china clay or talc. The silicone rubber film is preferably arranged to contrast in colour with the under-layer. The imaged plate may be used without damping.
