Abstract

1489644 Cathode-ray tubes RCA CORPORATION 21 March 1975 [25 March 1974] 11898/75 Heading H1D To improve degassing of a CRT, r.f. energy and heater current are applied to the cathode sequentially then simultaneously to increase the cathode temperature to 950‹ C. whilst the tube is baked at 300-450‹ C. and evacuated. H.f. energy of 1 to 1À5 mhz. degasses the cathode; the heater current decomposes the cathode coating material. The tube is passed through a tunnel furnace during the degassing.
