Abstract

1489618 Spraying steel with Al and posttreating SUMITOMO METAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 Dec 1974 [28 Dec 1973 4 Oct 1974 (2)] 56059/74 Heading C7F A steel surface is maintained at 100-500‹C and sprayed with Al; the Al-coated steel is then worked to an area reduction of 5-80%. This may be done by cold-rolling, optionally followed by heating at 150-600‹C for 3 minutes to 24 hours; alternatively rolling may take place at 150-600‹C. The steel is pre-treated by grit- or shot-blasting or pickling followed by washing; the coating thickness may be 30-300Á and spraying may be in a reducing, N 2 , or Ar atmosphere.
